What is INDAH?
An organic/natural skincare + perfume company based in Australia.
When did INDAH start?
INDAH was founded by Teisha Lowry in 2008. She had her Eat, Pray, Love moment in Bali & accidentally stumbled across a herbalist & healer where she taught Lowry through her craft, which leads Lowry to study aromatherapy & obtaining her diploma.
It sounds like a scene from the book, or perhaps a movie, but she showed Lowry how she would extract plant oils & INDAH was born reflecting the "beauty" of Bali. In March 2008 the first product from INDAH & Lowry’s aromatherapy-based beauty line was on the market.
The range originally used wild & organic ingredients sourced in Bali & was put into production on a larger scale in Australia & obtained certified organic under the ACO (Australian Certified Organic) banner.
The brand has evolved over the years & now we are seeing INDAH for what it has always been - it's bare & it's real.
We've been in the game for a while & we know what people want & that's honesty & no frills. Our mind & body are more efficient when we get rid of the excess & we've stopped exposing ourselves to so much stuff & cleared out all that's complicated in love, life & business & we hope you can do the same.
What's the difference with INDAH?
Teisha has not only painstakingly formulated & designed each product; they are also handcrafted by her in small fresh batches, apart from the Coconut Oil. You order it, she hand-bottles each creation, & then wraps each product with her own brand of Tender Love & Care. INDAH and Teisha are one in every aspect.
We use the less is more approach with each formula, leaving out preservatives, synthetics, fillers, toxins & artificial fragrances. All that is left is a product that works harmoniously with your mind & body.
Is INDAH's packaging eco-friendly?
We are conscious about reducing the amount of packaging that goes to waste, so we don't use any boxes to house our products in. We use minimal recyclable plastic (BPA free), glass & aluminium containers. Our mail orders only use recycled kraft paper to wrap our products in & we hardly use any printed marketing materials.
Did you know, the palm pattern design on the packaging was commissioned by Teisha using a traditional Sanur painter by the name of Regeg. The original canvas hangs on the walls in the INDAH studio.
What's INDAH's impact on the environment?
Over the last few years we have come to recognise that our customer is inundated with more & more beauty brands & products targeted at problems we didn't even know we had. We do not deluge with marketing nonsense as there's much more to skincare than expensive creams - it's about simplicity & making room for more of what matters. Most of our products are double duty which simplifies your beauty regime & your life. Your skin, planet & wallet will thank you for it. Learn more about our environmental footprint here.
Does INDAH use Palm Oil or Palm derivatives?
Palm oil is a damaging ingredient that sneaks into most of the world's skin & hair care products & not to mention baked goods, confectionery, shampoo, cosmetics, cleaning agents, washing detergents & toothpaste causing major issues such as deforestation, habitat degradation, climate change, animal cruelty & indigenous rights abuses in the countries where it is produced.
Since 2012 our founder, Teisha Lowry is an official ambassador to the Borneo Orangutan Survival Australia (BOSA). Her work involves volunteering at events & raising funds for rescuing & rehabilitating them. Her ultimate goal is for them to be released back to the forest where they will be safe from human development, poaching & farming. Learn more about Teisha & her involvement with BOSA here.
Is INDAH Vegan and does INDAH test on animals?
INDAH has taken a cruelty-free pledge. We are completely against animal testing in more ways than one. We applaud the efforts of the Choose Cruelty Free (CCF) and we have been accredited with them since the very beginning. All of our products & ingredients have not been tested on animals or derived from any wildlife, & nor are we a by-product of the fur industry. Most of our products are Vegan, for the exception of beeswax in our body balm.
